01/05/2007 : New Zealand Relations

Jacquie Johnson, from the Epsom Girl College of Auckland in New-Zealand came to visit us in February. She had wished to help us welcome the New Zealand teachers who are coming to spend 6 months in France. We hope that you can convince the New Zealand Education Minister that it would be an excellent opportunity for New Zealand French teachers to attend a training course at International House Nice. We look foward to welcoming many little Kiwis!In April, 20 students from Rangi Ruru Girls’ College in Christchurch, New-Zealand spent a week at the school before continuing their cultural trip in France.Thank you to Jo who accompanied this pleasant group. We really appreciated the haka!

01/05/2007 : School inspection

Every 3 years we are inspected by International House World Organisation.  The Director of studies at International House Dublin, Mary Greennan, came to review our practice on the 8th and 9th March 2007. She was able to observe the teachers abilities, the capacity of the general organisation of the school and she advised us about what could be improved.Thank you Mary, all your suggestions and advise are much appreciated and will be very useful.

21/02/2007 : Residential Summer programme for teenagers aged 12 to 17

You wanted it, we’ve got it !On this exciting summer programme for teenagers the students will learn French in the morning, take part in sports, cultural activities and touristic excursions in the afternoons and evenings and will get to know and respect each other. The work for this revolutionary service began three years ago however, the Tramway that will vitally improve transport in Nice has been slow to get off the ground and has caused endless problems for niçois traffic.We wait patiently for the promised public opening in January 2008.

From 16th February to 4th March Nice celebrates its Carnival.With millions of tourists coming especially the city will be buzzing with activity so don’t miss out.

20/02/2007 : New website

We are delighted to announce the launch of the International House Nice website on the 1st February 2007, which has marked the start of new begninnings for our team and our students.You will find the website contains extensive information about us, our courses and what we can offer you as a student.We are very excited about the year ahead and with the website being in the developping stages, we expect to be fully operational by the end of April. Following this we will be translating the content into Russian, Italian, Japanese etc... and shall have this online for our international students by the summer months.The year 2007 is a bright opening for International House Nice !

20/02/2007 : Stagiaires

International House Nice currently employs two stagiaires from the Erasmus scheme.Recently we have welcomed Zuzana, who is from Slovakia and studies marketing in London. She makes progress with her French every day and her smile and good humour is essential to our team.Bravo Zuzana !Kerry arrived from Manchester last September. And it is thanks to her that you are able to read these very words on our new website.Bravo Kerry for your enthusiasm, your work and your skills !

We are proud to be welcoming, from March 2007, many teenage school groups from Austria, England, Italy and New Zealand. They spend a week or so in Nice, accommodated with a host family, studying French and visiting the region in the afternoons.What a wonderful experience to spend a week in a foreign country at only 15 !

20/02/2007 : The New Zealand teachers

With the New Years celebrations only just over, the school had the pleasure of welcoming three New-Zealand teachers, who had been invited by the French Embassy in Wellington to stay in France for 4 weeks.They spent 2 weeks at the school and then 2 weeks in Paris. It is with further pleasure that we will be welcoming a group of New-Zealand college students in April 2007.The accompanying teacher herself studied at the school in January 2006, welcome back Jo !

20/02/2007 : Relations with New Zealand

The Director, having lived in  New Zealand for 7 years, welcomed her excellency Sarah Denis, the New Zealand Ambassador in Paris in November 2006.She was able to visit Menton, where she was greeted by the Deputy Mayor, Luc Lanlo, and so she observed the warmth at which the Mayor of Menton welcomes the winning writers of the Katherine Mansfield Trust every year.

Our annual Christmas party was a joyous success thanks to the festive participation of our students, staff, host families and friends.We ate many different dishes from all over the world and enjoyed the surprise choral singing from our Sweedish students, all dressed in white wearing a crown of candles.It was a delight to experience the traditions from another country.
