Monuments and Places of Interest
Nice is easily explored by foot and by taking a walk through town you can discover the maze of streets in Old Nice and the bustling markets on the Cours Saleya. You can also climb the hill to the parks by the ruined Chateau where you can expect a fantastic view of Nice and its Port. Then there is Place Masséna - renovated for the arrival of the tramway - and of course the famous Promenade des Anglais which stretches along the waterfront.
Outside the City
Don’t forget to visit towns outside of Nice such as Cannes and Monaco - where you shouldn't miss the opportunity to watch the changing of the guard at the Prince's Palace or visit the stunning Oceanographic Museum.
Equally, the villages of the region have lots to offer; the medieval village of Eze boasts stunning seaside views, St Paul de Vence is a must for any amateur artist and Grasse is famous for its perfumery! There are also the pretty seaside towns of Beaulieu and Villefranche to consider.
Sporting Activities
The summer months are the perfect time to be at the beach. In the local area you can try parasailing, scuba diving or kayaking.
International House Nice may invite you to take the boat trip to St. Tropez during the summer. If you are more adventurous, you can try out abseiling, an adventure course, or hiking in some of the stunning scenery which can be found in the region.
In the winter the weather is still good enough to enjoy seaside walks, but the ski slopes of Auron or Isola 2000 are just an hour away by bus or road.
Those who enjoy jogging should remember to bring their running shoes so that they can head out along the Promenade des Anglais, whilst another popular activity is rollerblading along the prom. This can be really good fun and skates (plus all the protective gear to accompany them!) are available to hire here in Nice. |
